“Danza Nueva” festival to start tomorrow in Lima
Lima, Jun. 04 (ANDINA).- During six weeks, Lima will host the international event of contemporary dance denominated Danza Nueva (New Dance) which is the most important in the country and the only one that remains after 20 consecutive years. It is organized by the North American – Peruvian Cultural Institute (ICPNA) and will be held at its location of Miraflores.
In this opportunity, companies to participate are Juilliard Dance Ensemble, the Mark Foehringer Dance Project/SF (both from United States), the Ballet of Londrina (Brazil), the Dance Company of the Costa Rica University (Costa Rica), La Manga (México) and Corporación Colegio (France and Colombia).
In regard to Julliard Dance Ensemble, its director Martha Hill led this company to be the main institution that combines the contemporary technique with the classic ballet. It will be presented on June 5-7.
The Mark Foehringer Dance Project from San Francisco (California), which director has worked before with the National Ballet, will perform for a first time a show with the participation of a Peruvian dancer. These presentations will take place from June 12 to June 14.
The Dance Company of Costa Rica University celebrates its 30 years of foundation and will be on scene on June 19-21.
The Ballet of Londrina from Brazil will present the show Decalque from June 26 to June 28. And, La Manga and the Corporación Colegio will be presented on July 3-5 and July 10-12 respectively.
